Some lines should never be crossed . . . not even for love.

Sloan O'Malley just left her entire world behind—her family, her wealth, and even her real name. For the first time in her life, she's free. She can live the "normal" life she's always wanted. A life without fear. But there's nothing safe about her intensely sexy next-door neighbor.

Jude MacNamara has no room for innocence in his life. Only revenge. Still, he's never been able to walk away from the forbidden, and Sloan—who is every inch of pure, mouthwatering temptation—has forbidden written all over her. Only after it's way too late does he discover the real danger: claiming Sloan as his puts a target on her back. To protect her, Jude is willing risk everything . . . and to hell with the consequences.

Interview With Katee Robert

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

I would tell her to stop worrying so much about people’s approval and write the books she loves, unlikable heroines and all. The heart and soul books are the ones that hit the spot, no matter how “marketable” they are.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

Each book is a little different. For my O’Malley books, I have random rabbit holes of research, but my Hidden Sins series requires months of research before I even start the book.

How do you select the names of your characters?

I’m almost superstitious about names. Sometimes a character arrives with a name already attached. Sometimes, I scroll through baby name websites until I find one that “feels” right for the type of personality/history I know the character has.

What was your hardest scene to write? What was the hardest thing about writing Forbidden Promises?

The hardest scene is different in each book, but it’s usually right around 60% of the way into the draft. Forbidden Promises was different. The ending gave me fits, and it took several tries and a few conversations with my editor to get it exactly right. I felt that click on the third version of it.

If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it have been and why?

Oooh. That’s a good question. Maybe Anne Bishop’s The Black Jewels trilogy, but if I’d written it, I don’t know that I’d love it the way I do as reading it as a reader.

Thank you Katee!!

Review

Katee Robert brings us another titillating tale in The O'Malley series.

Sloan O'Malley has made a run for it, a chance for a life outside the family influence.

Jude is the last of his family and over the last several years he's systemically sought revenge on the family that took his.

A chance encounter brings these two together and the more time they spend together, the stronger their bond becomes. And when a threat is directed toward Sloan, Jude will stop at nothing to keep her safe and in his arms.

And when all is said and done, will Sloan choose to return to her family or leave everything behind and start a new life with Jude?

Forbidden Promises is an engrossing, scintillating read that keeps the read on the edge of their seat from start to finish. The O'Malley may not be a typical family, but you can't help by appreciate the love they have for each other.

Jude and Sloan are complete opposites yet completely perfect for each other. I loved watching them fight their attraction and then in the end submit to it. Neither want to attempt the love that is there, but they refuse to give up on their relationship.

Jude isn't your typical hero given his past, but he'll make you swoon over and over again with how he treats, protects, and loves Sloan. He'd go to the end of the world for her and that is something you can't help be love.

I always love picking up a Katee Robert book with her ability to draw a reader into the story and Forbidden Promises is everything you hope for. I love The O'Malley series and can't wait to see what Katee will give us next.
